Consumer Demand for Sustainable Packaging Is Reshaping Global Supply Chains
A growing body of independent research continues to validate KraftPal's long-term vision that sustainability is becoming a decisive factor throughout global supply chains.
According to the 2021 Buying Green Report published by Trivium Packaging, based on a survey of more than 15,000 consumers across Europe, North America and South America, environmental considerations are increasingly influencing purchasing decisions and consumer expectations for sustainable packaging.
The research highlights several important trends:
67% of consumers consider themselves environmentally conscious.
83% of younger consumers are willing to pay more for products packaged sustainably.
64% believe recycled packaging materials are important.
67% consider packaging recyclability an important purchasing factor.
While consumer attention often focuses on primary packaging—the packaging seen on retail shelves—the environmental impact of transport packaging is equally significant.
Throughout modern supply chains, products are transported multiple times before reaching consumers. Every shipment depends on transport packaging, most commonly traditional wooden pallets weighing more than 25 kilograms. Their weight contributes to higher fuel consumption and increased carbon emissions during road, rail, sea and air transport. In addition, wooden pallets often have limited recycling potential at the end of their operational life.
KraftPal believes that improving supply chain sustainability requires addressing transport packaging alongside consumer-facing packaging.
Its proprietary X-Pallet™ technology was developed to provide a lightweight, fully recyclable corrugated pallet capable of meeting demanding industrial logistics requirements while helping businesses reduce transport weight, material consumption and environmental impact.
This approach has received international recognition, including the WorldStar Packaging Award® and the Green Packaging Star Award®, reflecting growing industry acceptance of sustainable alternatives for transport packaging.
As governments, businesses and consumers continue placing greater emphasis on sustainability, lightweight transport solutions are expected to play an increasingly important role in building more efficient and environmentally responsible global supply chains.
